OUR ETHOS

Here at Ardmore House we try to be as environmentally responsible as possible in all aspects of our life here - we have a biomass wood pellet boiler for our hot water and central heating, and we compost the waste ash from this, which then enriches our soil. We use 100% renewable electricity from Ecotricity, we use energy saving appliances and light bulbs, we recycle and compost as much of our waste as possible (the hens join in by eating any left-over crumbs!) and we have made shutters for the bedrooms to keep them snug and warm in the winter, and to block out the nearly 24 hour daylight in summer!

We are very excited about our gardens here at Ardmore House - we tend our land hand in hand with nature, growing all our fruit, vegetable, herbs and flowers organically, and and making our own nutrient-rich compost from our kitchen waste.
We plant lots of nectar-rich flowers to encourage insects, butterflies, birds and other wildlife, and we are striving to create an oasis here for humans, plants, and animals alike, were we can all thrive together - we call it micro-rewilding!

OUR GUEST ROOMS

Ardmore House has just two guest bedrooms, both with private facilities, and come supplied with Faith In Nature toiletries.

Our double room, which has views overlooking the beautiful glen, has a luxury super-king sized bed, a comfy seating area, and tea & coffee making facilities. It has its own private bathroom adjacent to the room, with a bath, shower over the  bath, basin and WC.

Our twin room, which also enjoys views of the glen, contains a double bed plus a single bed, and so can be made up as a double or a twin. The room also has two comfortable chairs and tea & coffee making facilities. The twin room has an en-suite with large rainfall shower, basin and WC.

OUR FOOD

The food we serve here at Ardmore House is of the very best possible quality, and we focus on using home-produced, home-grown, locally sourced and organic produce wherever possible.

For our breakfasts, we concentrate on the things we can make and grow ourselves - home-made granola, home-made fruit compote, organic yoghurt, and fresh seasonal fruits.

We follow these with a choice of organic eggs from our small flock of rare-breed hens, locally smoked fish, local cheeses, and seasonally changing specials, according to what produce is at its best from month to month.

This is all served with our own home-made organic bread, accompanied with home-made preserves, marmalade, and local honey. We always offer a very wide selection of teas, freshly ground coffee and herbal teas, including home-grown seasonal herbs such as mint and lemon balm.

During the winter time, should there be nowhere open to get an evening meal, we are very happy to provide a simple supper of homemade soup and homemade bread, followed by homemade cake, for a cost of £15 per person. Do please give us at least 3 days notice if this is something you would like us to do.

For all our meals, we use only top quality ingredients, organic and locally sourced wherever possible, and we make as much as we can from scratch. We aim to use seasonal ingredients from local crofts and markets, and are currently developing our own fruit, vegetable and herb gardens.

We are also very happy to cater for vegetarian/vegan diets, or for other special dietary requirements -  do please get in touch with us directly, at least a few days before your arrival, and we will do everything we can to accommodate your requests.

As we don’t have a license to sell alcohol, do feel free to bring your own bottle, we can supply the glasses!

Our meals are served in the guest dining room, which is a cosy room with a wood burning stove and a comfy sofa.
